In an unusual rant on social media, Multimedia entertainment personality, MzGee has called on young ladies to name and shame men who demand sex and other favours from them before employing them or giving them opportunities.
Taking her inspiration from Hollywood’s #MeToo campaign and Television mogul Oprah Winfrey’s speech at the Golden Globe Award, MzGee recalls an experience she encountered over a decade ago.
MzGee, real name, Gloria Akpene Acquah, narrated how her refusal to give in to several requests for sex at auditions dashed her quest to land a major role in a movie.
“In 2003, 2004, I wanted to become an actress so bad, I had to go for auditions from Zeus hotel to Coconut grove but there was one man, I met him at almost every audition I went to, he looked me in the face and said you need to sleep with me to get a role in this industry [and] I declined.
"I never got a role but fast forward 2018, I can boast of a job I never slept with anyone for,” MzGee, who presents entertainment news on JoyNews Prime said.
The TV personality, who bemoaned the ‘sex for jobs’ phenomenon in her recording insisted, it is very predominant in the showbiz industry, a situation she believes does not augur well for the development of talents and the sector.
