The sector minister, Ms Shirley Ayokor Botchwey, said she was satisfied with the speed of work when she inspected the facility in Accra yesterday.
The four-storey building would comprise classrooms, laboratories, meeting rooms, offices for staff and a hostel.
Ms Botchwey acknowledged that the period for completion of the institute had elapsed; nonetheless, work on the facility was ongoing.
She said the project when completed would provide practical training and build the capacity of staff of the ministry as well as officers from other ministries.
Ms Botchwey said that the Foreign Service Institute would also train diplomats and attract people from other West African States.
The minister appealed to the Indian High Commission in Ghana to provide more funding for the successful completion of the project.
Mr Foster Osae-Akunnor, from the Ghana Institute of Architects and Consultants for the project noted that most of the challenges confronting the project had been resolved.
“With the land we are waiting for an offer letter from the Lands Commission and once we get it we can submit all the drawings to the planning authorities for a building permit,” he stated.
He assured the minister that the project would be completed on February 14, 2019.
The Indian High Commissioner to Ghana Mr Shri Birender Singh Yadav expressed the commission’s commitment to ensure the successful completion of the project.
