Management of PCEF and winners in a pose after the competition
Startrite Montessori School has won the maiden edition of the National Character Education Quiz (NCEQ) in Accra.
The programme held at RisingSun Montessori, Dome was on the theme, ‘Shaping the next generation of future leaders’.
The participating schools, Sky High, Start Rite and Nissi International schools made presentations on anti-corruption, rule of law and accountability.
At the end of the three-hour programme which was organised by Peaceful Character Education Foundation, Start rite emerged the winners with 33 points as against Sky High who took the second position with 28 points and Nissi International taking the third prize with 27 points.
In his welcome address, the President of PCEF, Richard Wogodo said the programme sought to make leaders of the younger generation, political and critical thinkers for Ghana.
He said it was also meant to inculcate in the children and the youth the basic tenets of democratic participation and approach to identifying issues in their own perspective.
The President advised the students to aim high and work hard to earn good results and gain admission to institution of higher learning.
He urged them to study hard and avoid the get rich quick attitude because, “no one on earth can get rich in a day”.
Mr. Wokado congratulated the students on a successful quiz and commended them for their wealth of knowledge and for cooperating with their colleagues harmoniously.
He advised the parents and teachers to encourage children to study and engage in testing themselves individually as against their fellow students in order to foster healthy competition.
Some participants expressed joy as their schools emerged champions.
