Mr Ekwow Spio Garbrah
Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, a flagbearer aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has shared seven points transformational agenda to enhance the chances of the party winning the 2020 elections.
He explained that the seven pillars, which he described as his vision for the NDC, were to strengthen party members financially, physically, psychologically and socially.
Mr Spio-Garbrah shared his vision with delegates in separate meetings at the sidelines of the Ninth National Congress of the NDC at the International Trade Fair Centre, Accra.
The congress elected National Executives to man the affairs of the party in the next four years and also facilitate the election of a flagbearer who will lead the party alongside the executives into the 2020 general election.
Interacting with delegates from Central, Western, Ashanti and Volta Regions, Mr Spio-Garbrah indicated that “the visions include strengthening of party structures, creation of welfare committees, spending time at NDC headquarters, human capacity building, strengthening of women’s wing, creation of credit union for members and establishment of ideology for NDC.
“The party used classrooms and other facilities as offices in most of the constituencies which lacked logistics for operations but will engage business community in various constituencies to support establishment of offices to execute of party work”.
“There are many NDC members who faced health and other challenges, but did not get needed support from the party, having gone round the country to meet party members in difficulties, I have the vision to establish a welfare committee responsible for developing different packages to assist members who faced health and other challenges at branch, constituency, regional and national levels”.
“I will arrange with local and foreign educational institutions to offer training for qualified party members, propose the creation of a credit union to provide opportunity for members to have an account with the party, revive the Women wing by working to make it vibrant.
“The Women’s Wing is weak after the New Patriotic Party, upon the assumption of power, attacked 12 state institutions and crippled their activities and since women play formidable and frontal role in the party they need to be resuscitated,” Mr Spio-Garbrah pointed out. -GNA
