A motor rider and a pillion died after their motorbike crashed with a Benz bus on the Bimbilla–Wulensi main road in the Nanumba South District.
The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mohammed Yussif Tanko who disclosed this to the Ghanaian Times in an interview yesterday, said the two died on the spot.
According to him, the motor rider and pillion were heading towards Wulensi while the Benz bus loaded with passengers was moving to Bimbilla when the accident occurred.
He explained that on the spot investigations revealed that the two persons were riding without head lights and were rather using torchlight to find their way on the main road.
DSP Tanko said the dead whose bodies have been deposited at the Bimbilla Government Hospital Mortuary were identified as Kassim Kadura, 30 and Oldman Safinu, 27.
He stated that the driver of the Benz bus Alhaji Adam and mate sustained injuries and are also in the same hospital receiving treatment.
The PRO said the driver would help in the investigations as soon as he recovered and was discharged from the hospital.
