423,134 BECE placements out

A total of  67,382 candidates who qualified for Senior  High School  this year  could not be placed into  any of  their  selected  schools,  the Ghana Education Service (GES) has said.

Meanwhile, 423,134 students have been placed automatically and are expected to report to school on September 11 this year.

“Candidates placed on the Green Track will resume on September 11, 2018 whereas the Gold Track will resume on November 8, 2018,” a statement signed by the Head of Public Relations at the GES, Cassandra Twum Ampofo and copied to the Ghanaian Times in Accra, yesterday said.

“Out of the total number of 521,710 registered candidates, 490,514 candidates qualified to be placed.”

To access the placement portal, it asked students to dial *713*24# to enable them buy a placement pin code of GH? 5.00 to log onto the www.cssps.gov.gh.

The candidates, according to the statement, are to enter the ten digit index number, add 18 as their year of completion and enter the pin code details.

It said “candidates are to click on submit and wait for placement to show up and then print the form and send to the school to begin admission processes”.

For unplaced students, the statement directed them to do a self-placement to get themselves in schools with vacancies.

It asked them to log on to the same portal and  select  a school by filling region, programme, school  and then click on submit  and follow the same  procedure  as those placed.

According to the GES, regional solution centres had been set up at all regional education offices where candidates with genuine concerns could visit for resolution.

For the Greater Accra Region, GES said the solution centre would be at the Independence Square to address the concerns of candidates from the region.

It assured parents  whose wards could not be placed  that, a number of  schools with vacancies  had been uploaded  on the portal  for  candidates  to  make a choice without  any difficulty.

However, it warned that “schools selected on self placement cannot be changed”.
