WISDOM Akude, the man who attacked a 13-year-old girl at school with a cutlass, at Kpando-Abanu, in the Volta Region, on Monday May 21, resulting in her death, is believed to be mentally unsound, according to the police.
The Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP George Tuffuor said at a news conference in Ho on Wednesday that Akude was in police custody.
The horrifying incident occurred soon after midday at the M. A. Primary School while the class-five pupil, Rejoice Dormenu, was weeding on the school compound.
The suspect inflicted cutlass wounds on the girl’s neck, arm and chest, and the victim was rushed to the Margaret Marquat Catholic Hospital, Kpando, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
DCOP Tuffuor said that the body of the deceased was at the mortuary, awaiting autopsy.
