The Police in the Central Region have arrested two persons for their alleged role in the murder case at Opeikuma near Kasoa.
Those arrested are: Ibrahim Alhassan, 34 and Abdul Rahman Ibrahim, 22.
They were suspected to be involved in a group of rampaging mob who attacked their victims with cutlasses on Monday.
Briefing the media at Cape Coast, the Central Regional Police Commander, Commissioner of Police (COP) Rev. David Ampah-Bennin, said the two were arrested after intense manhunt to arrest all those suspected to have contributed to the death of Sampson Tetteh, a driver, at Opeikuma.
He said, on Monday, November 7, 2017, at 8.30pm, Abraham Gasrivi of Opeikuma went to the Kasoa police station with a deep cut on the left part of his forehead and reported that at 5:30pm, a number of individuals numbering about 10 and wielding cutlasses attacked him and his master Sampson Tetteh aged 67 at Opeikuma and inflicted wounds on them.
The deceased, according to the COP Ampah-Bennin, was rushed to the Kasoa Polyclinic for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The Police, he said, proceeded to the hospital and saw the lifeless body of Sampson Tetteh, with multiple cuts on the body.
The body, he said, was conveyed to the Police Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy, whilst medical form was issued to victim Abraham Gasrivi to attend hospital.
In a related development, the Central Regional Police Command also arrested a man at Bawjiase for posing as a police officer stationed at Ajumako in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam district of the Central Region.
The man who could not even explain anything in relation with the police administration after his arrest only stated that “I am the last born of my family so please have mercy on me”.
Briefing the media at the Central Regional Police Command, the Central Regional Police Commander, Ampah-Bennin said, the suspect was apprehended by the Bawjiase Police Commander, DSP Bernard Norga at about 8:45am on Tuesday after he was seen riding an unregistered motorcycle and fully dressed in police attire.
The appearance of the suspect who gave his name as Corporal Francis Adakwah of the Ajumako Police Station, he said, raised suspicion leading to his arrest.
He explained that, the suspect who was later identified as Bismark Asabre when confronted during interrogation, boldly asserted being a police officer with serial number 44980 and stationed at Ajumako.
COP Ampah-Bennin said that when the suspect was quizzed further about the police he gave ignorant and inconsistent answers and at a point took to his heels but was arrested.
He said, a search conducted on him revealed a handcuff with serial number 34261 and a Motorola which were retrieved from him.
He further said that the suspect was detained and upon further interrogation informed the police that he was not a policeman and changed the story he had earlier told the police as he pleaded for mercy.
