Two strikes from skipper Thomas Abbey yesterday ended Accra Hearts of Oak’s two-game losing streak as they beat Berekum Chelsea 2-0 in their match day 22 game of the Ghana Premier League played at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Abbey, who was voted the Man-of-the-Match for his sterling performance all afternoon, took 10 minutes to brush aside the Chelsea threat to take his total goal tally for the season to 10.
Abbey scored in the 36th and 46th minutes to put their fans in a positive mood ahead of Sunday’s clash against Kumasi Asante Kotoko in Kumasi.
It was a game the Phobians dominated and deserved to win as Vincent Atinga and Robin Gnagne kept the Chelsea strikers Stephen Sarfo and Alfred Okai Quaye at bay with Patrick Razak a constant threat for the visitors’ defense.
Hearts thus leapfrogged the Porcupine Warriors back into third position.
Inter Allies stunned Kumasi Asante Kotoko with a 1-0 victory in their match played yesterday at the El-wak Sports Stadium, reports Seth Osabukle.
Abdul Halik-Wudu scored with the only decent chance in the 32nd minute for Allies after latching on an excellent pass from Paul Abanga.
Tempers flared as Kotoko chased the equaliser with Obed Owusu of Kotoko and Richard Osei Agyeman getting booked in the 33rd and 41st minutes.
It was followed by red cards to Kotoko’s Evans Quao and Isaac Osae of Inter Allies.
