After committing the crime, Alhassan locked the boy in the room for about a week, until he was rescued by a Good Samaritan.
Presently, leg of the victim is rotten, and is on admission at the Enchi Government Hospital.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, confirmed the story to The Ghanaian Times.
He said last Monday, Kwesi Michael, from Kwawu Nyamebekyere near Enchi, assisted Constable Francis Botwe to arrest Alhassan.
ASP Adiku indicated that the suspect beat the victim and ‘butchered’ his leg with a cutlass for attempting to steal his money by passing through the ceiling of his room, and kept him, in the room, and the leg got rotten.
He said suspect has been detained at the police station, while investigations continued.
