The Paramount Chief of Basa Traditional area, Nana Owusu Sakyi III, has described Nana Kwadwo Nyarko III, the Paramount chief of Prang in the Bono East Region as a symbol of peace.
“Nananom from both Bono and Bono East regions are proud of Nana Nyarko, a former Member of the Council of State and one time President of the Brong Ahafo Region, who has successfully reigned as Omanhene of Prang for 60 years and we salute you”, the Basa chief remarked.
Nana Owusu Sakyi, who doubles as the President of Bono East Regional House of Chiefs noted at this Year’s Nkyifie’s Yam Festival at Prang that the 60th Anniversary of the enstoolment of Nana Nyarko tells a story that must be emulated by all chiefs across the nation.

The president of Bono East Regional House of Chiefs pointed to the massive development at Prang over 60 years, attributing them to peace and unity prevailing in the area and called on Chiefs to emulate the Prang Omanhene if they want to be successful.
He noted that the area from Prang through Abease to Kintampo has opened up to development and that with unity in a peaceful atmosphere development is a matter of course.
Nana Sakyi advised colleague chiefs in the Bono East Region to bury their differences to pave way for progress and development else posterity would not forgive them for failing to impact on lives of their people.
“The time to smoke the peace pipe is now, to champion development across the region”, Nana Owusun Sakyi pleaded.
Emmanuel Kofi Ntekuni, Member of Parliament for Pru West, exalted the Prang Omanhene as good and peaceful leader.
He assured the Prang Chief that the government would ensure that all projects at Prang and Pru West constituency in general would be completed in recognition of the Chief’s peaceful reign.
On his part, Nana Kwadwo Nyarko III expressed appreciation for the support of chiefs, elders and people of the Traditional Area.
The Prang Omanhene advised chiefs to be transparent and truthful in their dealings with the people and called on the youth to be law abiding as a condition for peace and development.
He also thanked President John Mahama who was represented at the Nkyifie Yam Festival.
