Gospel artiste, Isaac Opoku popularly known as Yaw Sarpong has named ‘S3 Anka Enye Awurade’ song as his favorite of all his hit songs.
According to the prolific song composer and songwriter, there is a touching story behind his most preferred song which translates literally to ‘If it wasn’t for God’.
“My father was a Member of Parliament during Kwame Nkrumah’s government but after the coup, he was arrested. Upon his return, he could not survive,” he told JoyNews’ Becky in an interview on E Vibes.
Casting my mind back in my musical journey, I had nobody to sponsor my career. So these life challenges inspired me to write this song.”
He added that none of his brothers were high school graduates because of their father’s demise.
With over 40 years of doing music, 26 albums, the lead singer for the Asomafo band has made waves in the gospel music industry.
