Hundreds of members of the Bissa Community in the Greater Accra Region, last Saturday converged at Nima, Accra, to witness the coronation of Chief (Kir) Suallah Saeed Sare I, as the new Chief for the Bissa Community in Bortianor and New Bortianor.
In attendance were Chief Ali Mohammed Dabre, President of the Greater Accra Council of Bissa chiefs, Chief Musah Konkonni Sare, deputy Chairman of the Council, as well as the two wives of the new Chief, Samira Suallah (1s twife) and Huda Suallah (2nd wife).
Also present were some Bissa chiefs from the Greater Accra region, including Chief Shaibu Issaka Zampaligre –Nii Boi Town; Musah Nyenye –Adenta Nsuo Anu; Chief Yurusa Bandaogo –Madina; Chief Yakubu Zule Sambare –Alajo; Chief Abdullah Yelbi -Domi Pillar1; Chief Ibrahim Elliasu Adam Zeba –Fadama; Chief Abdul Razak Ummar Bambara -Darkuman and Chief Salifu Zoure -North Kaneshie among others.
Others include Alhaji Ismael Lord -New Bortiano Zongo chief; and other chiefs representing Kwashieman Zongo, Fadama Zongo and Gomoa Akyempim Zongo, who were on hand to grace the occasion.
The Chief of Moshie Yadiga, Bortiano Zongo Lord, some GA chiefs and other chiefs from notable tribes in Ghana, Bissa sub-chiefs, Zongo chiefs, Imams, Bissa Council members and Zongo Queen mothers within the Greater Accra region turned out in their numbers to support the installation ceremony.
The Wangara Ladies, a group of young ladies who entertain guests with cultural display were also present at the high-profile coronation. Led by Hajia Mamaa Aishetu Sumaila Fofana, they dished out beautiful cultural rendition to the delight and admiration of all present.
Leadership of the people took attendees to the progam through the beautiful traditional and cultural practice for the coronation of a Bissa Chief.
In an interview with The Chronicle, after his coronation, Chief Suallah, who was made the Sadawna (Prime Minister) of the New Bortiano Zongo Community a couple of months ago said it is his heart’s desire to bring all Bissa people within his community together for development.
He said his number one priority is to ensure that the youth in his community have access to quality education, stressing “the best legacy a man can bequeath his children is education”.
The young Chief also promised to lead his people by organising them to build a mosque and boreholes for members of the Community.
He stated: “I will ensure that we build a befitting Mosque where our people will meet and worship Allah. Another thing on my heart is the need to provide my people with potable drinking water.
“It is for this reason that, together with my people, we will work around the clock to provide some boreholes to serve that purpose”, he added.
Chief Suallah, who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Homekey Investment Limited, an Accra based Estate Development company, expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed one way or the other to support his enskinment. He also thanked all those who travelled from far and new to grace the occasion thus making his coronation a huge success.
