The Bono Regional Minister, Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene, has assumed office with the assurance that she would welcome constructive media criticisms to enable her to realise her vision for the region and build a better society for all.
According to the Regional Minister, the media was an indispensable partner that cannot be neglected in national development processes.
“The media is an indispensable tool for development, and with their support, the Bono Region can experience accelerated development,” she said.
Madam Owusu Banahene gave the assurance when she received the executives of the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) on her first day at office in Sunyani.
Mad. Owusu-Banahene commended the media for its continuous support towards the development of the Sunyani Municipality when she was the Municipal Chief Executive, and asked for the same support in her role as Regional Minister.
“I succeeded as the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive because of your support, and I expect that our relationship would be deepened as President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has elevated me to serve his government as the Bono Regional Minister.”
Madam Owusu Banahene said she would operate an open door policy and be ready to receive suggestions and ideas from the media to enhance the development of the region.
“My doors are always open for media suggestions, ideas, and constructive criticisms that would enhance the development of the Bono Region,” she said.
She advised the media to highlight the economic, cultural potentials of the region to attract investors.
“I wish to advise the media to use their powers usefully and responsibly by helping to identify and showcase the economic, cultural, and historical potentials to the world to attract investors into the region,” she said.
The Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo Regional Chairman of the GJA, Larry Paa Kwesi Moses, pledged the commitment of the association to support the administration of the Regional Minister.
“The GJA acknowledges and cherishes its cordial relation with the Regional Minister, and I pledge the association’s readiness and commitment to supporting your administration to push the development of the region forward,” he said.
