A Valedictory and Thanksgiving service was at the weekend organised in honour of the Most Reverend Prof. Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, Archbishop of Anglican Diocese of Kumasi at the Saint Cyprian Cathedral in Kumasi.
The climax of the service was the launch of a book he authored about his biography and the Anglican Church.He was thankful to God for seeing him through all the years he has served in God’s vineyard without any adversities.
Archbishop Prof.YinkahSarfo, 70, has served as the third diocesan Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Kumasi for 22 years. He was ordained as minister of the church 42 years ago.
The Archbishop also served as the Archbishop of the internal province of Ghana and the immediate past Archbishop Primate of the Church of the Province of West Africa (CPWA), from 13 March 2014 until 3 March 2019.
He studied for the ministry at Trinity Theological Seminary in Accra, Ghana. He moved to the United Kingdom where he received a MA degree in Mission Studies,at the University of Leeds and a Doctorate in Theology at the University of Wales.
He was ordained as a deacon on August 26, 1979 and as a priest on September 14, 1980. He was a parish priest until his appointment to be archdeacon of Sunyani in 1986 and became a canon of Kumasi Cathedral in 1994.
He was a forces chaplain in the Ghanaian Army, holding the rank of Major when he was elected the third bishop of the Diocese of Kumasi on November 20, 1998 and consecrated on March 14, 1999.
Major (rtd) Sarfo was elected the first Metropolitan archbishop of the Internal Province of Ghana on its creation on 29 September 2012.
He automatically succeeded Solomon Tilewa Johnson, after his unexpected death, as Archbishop Primate of CPWA, by virtue of being the surviving metropolitan and consecrated Primate of the Church of the Province of West Africa on 13 March 2014.
In an interview, the chairman of the Ghana Media Commission, Lawyer Yaw Boadu Ayeboafo, who is also a member of the church, described Archbishop YinkahSarfo as a humble, respectful and dedicated man of God who does not discriminate in his service to humanity and God.
