Cape Coast Mysterious Dwarfs were absolutely fantastic at home yesterday when they came up against visiting AshantiGold on match day 12 of the ongoing premier league with a 2-1 win.
This has increased the Crabs number of wins this season to four, as they look forward to producing more of such exhilarating performances to keep them in good standing on the league log.
Mid-field dynamo, George Asamoah, engineered the first goal and also scored the winner to hand Dwarfs a well deserved win at home, after their previous two home games fetched the Crabs only a solitary point.
The Miners gave their hosts a good run for their money, especially in the early minutes of the game, as the visitors took control from the early stages to the 20th minute mark.
The ‘Abontoa Abontoa’ lads settled in the game and returned the heat to their opponents, with intriguing inter positional display that created some decent chances but the attackers failed in the final third.
In-form George Asamoah set up his skipper, who had joined the attack upfront in the dying embers of the first half, with a pass that saw Dennis Nkrumah Korsah open the scores for his side.
Ashgold fought back strongly in the second half and succeeded in finding the equaliser through experienced Hans Kwofie, who capitalised on a loss of concentration on the part of the Dwarfs’ defenders
Dwarfs regained concentration and returned the heat on the visitors, forcing the Miners to concede a second goal that ensured sweet victory for the Crabs.
George Asamoah, who was influential in the first goal, got his name on the score sheet with a brilliant goal that sent the handful of supporters in the stadium agog.
