As part of efforts by the Kwabre East Municipal Assembly to improve the road network in the area, the management, in collaboration with the Member of Parliament and other stakeholders, have lobbied for over 60 kilometres of road projects which have been awarded and are at various stages of completion.
Nana Osei Asibey Bonsu, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), announced this at the First Ordinary Meeting of the First Session of the 8th Assembly at Mamponteng.
According to him, in spite of the poor road infrastructure in almost every part of the municipality inherited by his administration, the project had been awarded and work has commenced.
He indicated that the surfacing of 5.5km Mamponteng town roads, as well as the surfacing of the Asonomaso-Nkwanta-Safo-Kasaam Road (5.6km), Asomaso Nkwanta-Wonoo-Krobo (6.5km), Mamponteng-Abrade (3.6km), Fawoade-Bampenase Road, Fawoade- Kenyase roads are ongoing, Kenyase town roads (5.5km ), and Krobo-Antoa road (5.6km) are ongoing and currently at various stages of progress.
He also disclosed that the Airport roundabout-Kenyase-Antoa and Abirem Bonwire to Juaben junction, which was formerly under the Department of Feeder Roads, had also been approved and was being upgraded.
He revealed that two projects, which are Ahodwo-Wadie Adwumakase-Dwumanafo-Mamponteng and Borofoyedu, Bosore-Wadie Adwumakase-Aboaso roads, are currently receiving attention from the appropriate quarters.
He gave the assurance that the Assembly would pursue regular monitoring of all road projects in the municipality to ensure their completion on time, and in accordance with the contracts specifications.
He stressed that the Assembly would collaborate with the relevant institutions to ensure routine maintenance of roads in the municipality, while regular reshaping of access roads and continuous collaboration with the Member of Parliament, the chiefs and other key stakeholders to lobby for more road projects in the municipality.
