Hilda Addo breaks silence: I have been disqualified for supporting Alan

  A former Member of Parliament for Kwadaso, Madam Josephine Hilda Addo, says she is a victim of circumstances from her purported disqualification from Saturday’s polls at Kwadaso.

She told her supporters and delegates in Kumasi on Tuesday that she had no issues with the party, and that it had not given any tangible reason for her exclusion in the upcoming polls.

The former Kwadaso MP said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is yet to communicate reasons for disqualifying her, and called on the party to explain her exclusion from the polls, because “there is absolutely nothing against me.”

Mama Hilda, as she is known by her admirers and constituents, said she had hints of her purported disqualification from the media, which attributed it to the Second National Vice Chairman, Frederick Fredua Anto, who reportedly described her (Hilda) as disrespectful.

According to her, her case was a case of giving a dog a bad name in order to hang it, as she had no issues whatsoever with the party to warrant such sanctions and disqualification, when she had exhausted all requirements without a query.

The dyed-in-the-wool member of the party said she suspects a hidden agenda against her by some executives of the party, and that there is more to her purported disqualification from contesting the polls, which she claims she could have won hands down, than meets the eye.

Hilda  Addo, the first MP for the Kwadaso Constituency after it was carved out from the Bantama Constituency, said her crime was rooting for John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen’s bid for the NPP  flagbearership in 2007,  during which 17 candidates vied for the presidential slot, and for which she has been tagged an “Alan  Girl” since.

According to her, upon picking  and filing the nomination forms, she was vetted and duly cleared, and consequently partook in the balloting process, securing the Number One position on the ballot paper, after which she was directed by the Constituency Chairman to pick a delegates album from the Constituency Secretary for her campaign, which had been truncated.

In spite of the ill treatment, the former MP is prepared to sacrifice her bid for the peace of the constituency and the party, and gave the assurance to vigorously campaign for the party by supporting the delegates to choose the right candidate in the constituency, while awaiting an official party response to her enquiry.
