WYBA Company Limited, Non-Governmental organisation (NGO), has complemented the efforts of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) in the fight against the spread of the Coronavirus by undertaking the disinfection of basic schools in the Metropolis ahead of re-opening.
About 63 basic schools in the Kumasi Metropolis would benefit from the exercise.
Mr. Samuel Kwame Amankwah, Public Relations Officer of the company, disclosed that the gesture is to ensure that the schools are free from insects, rodents and other infectious diseases.
He stated that the government, through the Local Government Ministry, has embarked on disinfection exercises in the various Senior High and Tertiary schools across the country, hence, the prudent decision to collaborate with the KMA to disinfect basic schools.
Mr. Osei Asibey Antwi, Metropolitan Chief Executive, expressed his profound gratitude to the company for the gesture, which, he said, would go a long way to complement the efforts at disinfecting the various markets centres, senior high schools, tertiary institutions and police stations across the country.
He commended the Chief Executive Officer of WYBA Company Limited for the kind gesture and support to the basic schools in the Metropolis, and said it would help in the preparation for the reopening of the schools.
Mr. David Oppong, Kumasi Metropolitan Director of Education, commended WYBA Company for the free disinfection exercise and further commended the Mayor of Kumasi for the provision of logistics for the exercise.
According to him, the disinfection exercise is expected to promote quality learning environments to the children, and pleaded with other private organisations to come to their aid.
He entreated parents to trust the stakeholders in education, for they would ensure that all the protocols are observed when schools re-open.
