The National Petroleum Authority (NPA), has presented a cheque for Two Million Ghana Cedis (GHc 2,000,000.00), to support the mandate of the Covid-19 Trust Fund, set up by government to support the needy and vulnerable in the country.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Hassan Tampoli, made the presentation at Jubilee House on behalf of the Authority.
Also, the Board Chairman of the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), a wholly owned Government of Ghana entity for the independent transmission utility, presented a cheque for Two Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 200,000.00) to the Trust Fund. The Board Chairman of the company, Kabral Blay Amihere, led a team of executives of the company to Jubilee House where the presentation was made.
The ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), a financial institution established by the fifteen-member states of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), also donated two hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($250,000.00) to the Covid-19 National Trust Fund.
President of EBID, George Agyekum Nana Donkor, in the company of other top executives of the Bank, presented their cheque to the Chairperson of the Covid-19 National Trust Fund, Chief Justice Retired Sophia Akuffo, at a brief ceremony at the Point Six Office Complex of the fund at the Jubilee House.
DE United Foods Industries Ghana Limited, makers of Indomie, through their Managing Director, Mahesh Shah, presented One Million Ghana Cedis in cash and products to the fund; Five Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 500,000.00), was in Cash and another Five Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 500,000.00) worth of products.
GB Foods (Gino Tomatoes), through their Managing Director, David Afflu, donated One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 100,000.00) in a cheque and Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 250,000.00) worth of Gino products and other goods.
Ernest Chemist, a leading pharmaceutical company in Ghana through their Brands Communications Manager, Sharon Anim, presented a cheque of One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 100,000.00) to support the fund.
Jay Kay Industries and Investments Limited, on the other hand, through their Managing Director, Pawan Aidasani, presented a cheque of One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 100,000.00) and One Hundred (100) ‘Veronica’ buckets valued at (GHc 50,000.00) to the Trust Fund to support their work.
PJS Group (Red Eagle Rice) and K. K. Peprah Roofing Company through their respective Managing Director, Mr. Sachin Gupta and Dr. K. K. Peprah, presented Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 50,000.00) and Sixty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 60,000.00), respectively to the fund. PJS Group in addition presented a number of bags of rice worth Fifteen Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 15,000.00) to the Trust Fund.
Chief Justice Retired Sophia Akuffo, who leads trustee of the fund received all the donations on its behalf. She registered the sincere appreciation of the state to all the donors and pledged that the fund will ensure strict compliance to the regulations of the Act of Parliament (Act 1013) that established it.
