Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has declared that Nana Appau Sanwansa, Chief of Hemang in the Afigya Kwabre District, is the sole custodian of Hemang Stool lands.
He has, therefore, cautioned the Ekuona Nkoduase family of Hemang to stay clear of Hemang Stool lands to ensure lasting peace.
The members of the Ekuona Nkoduase family of Hemang are claiming ownership of Hemang stool lands, but on May 22, 2017, Otumfuo sternly and openly cautioned Okyeame Butuakwa,, leader of the Nkoduase family, and declared on tape (video) that Hemang stool lands are vested in the Chief of Hemang, Nana Appau Sanwansa, and that the Nkoduase family has no business interfering in the management and administration of Hemang stool lands.
The Ashanti King was emphatic that the Nkoduase family is entitled to Asabi and Adagya lands, and not Hemang lands. It was also explained that the Nkoduase family of Hemang is in charge of the Akyeame Stool, and could not claim Hemang stool lands.
The royal declaration that the members of the Nkoduase family are not members of the Ekuona Royal Family of Hemang, thus brings an end to the dispute that has raged on for the past two years, when Nana Sanwansa was installed as Chief of the community.
Following this, the Chief of Hemang has directed that all persons who have previously acquired parcels of Hemang land from any quarters should bring their documents for regularisation and proper documentation.

Nana Sanwansa noted that as many as 300 plots of land have been sold without proper documentation, and asked that all those who have acquired lands there to take advantage of the concession to regularise their documents before sanctions are taken against them.
He said the Hemang Stool would not allow development of any land without proper documentation to avoid any confrontation.
