From Michael Boateng, Banda-Ahenkro
The Banda Traditional Council, after a general meeting, unanimously concluded that the person or group of persons behind the xenophobic threat notices should, as a matter of urgency, render an unqualified apology, else incur the wrath of the gods of the land.
Speaking to the media after the general meeting, the President of the Council, Osabarima Okokyeredom Kwadwo Sito, said the person(s) has less than a week to openly render an unqualified apology to the people of the Banda Traditional area, otherwise, calamity would befall him or her, together with his/her entire family.

According to Nana Sito, the gods and deities of Banda land have been consulted, and all necessary rites performed for them to deal mercilessly with whoever was involved in the xenophobic threat notices that have tarnished the image of the Banda and its natives worldwide.
He said the chiefs and people of Banda are peace-loving people, who have been living together with all manner of persons, regardless of where one comes from; “so why should some faceless cowards try to bring the name of Banda into disrepute due to their selfish and parochial intents.”
Osabarima Kwadwo Sito emphasised that the chiefs and people of Banda Ahenkro believe in God Almighty, the gods and other deities of the Banda Traditional area to deal with the perpetrators of the disgraceful xenophobic threat cruelly, if they failed to show up with an apology.
He said the alleged xenophobic threat has cost the area a lot, as most of the workers who are not natives of Banda have vacated their respective posts to their various towns, due to fear and panic.
Nana Sito used that occasion to appeal to the security agencies to do thorough investigations to apprehend those behind the threat, while ensuring that the security within the area has been tightened to protect the workers in the area. He appealed to the workers who have fled the Banda town to return, since there is peace and calm in the area.
Before that, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister led the entire Regional Security Council (REGSEC) to Banda to ascertain the situation on the ground, as there were reports that some non-indigenes working in the area had fled for the safety of their lives.
At the Banda Health Center, which, according to reports, has a total of 18 staff, only three workers are left – a Physician Technician, a Ward Assistant and a labourer – the Banda D/A JHS, which has six teachers, including the Headmistress, had only the Headmistress left in the school, while the situation at the Banda R/C Primary and JHS was no different, as the teachers had left to their respective hometowns due to the threat.
The Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh, gave the assurance of the commitment of the REGSEC to ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to book.
Mr. Asomah-Cheremeh appealed to workers who have fled the Banda town to return, since their security is highly assured.
