Solomon Mensah, who has for years now maintained a column dubbed Talking Drum with the recent addition International Dialogue, both published on 3news.com, took the pupils through ‘How to make sense of what one reads’ and ‘How to write effectively’.
“I thought I was going to face a difficult task to get these kids to understand what I will say to them,” he told 3news.com.
“But it all panned out so perfectly. These kids are so sharp that they grasped every word I said to them on reading and writing.”
The astute writer read portions of a manuscript on his first book, scheduled for publication later this year, to the pupils.
The kids, as well, brilliantly read portions of the said manuscript.
“It is only refreshing knowing that these kids have taken up at an early stage what [reading and writing] some of us embraced at the junior high school level,” the journalist said.
The pupils of the Splendid Care Montessori — some of whom had graduated from the school but attended the reading and writing clinic — presented to the journalist previous writings of their news monitoring.
Solomon Mensah said that although the news script of the pupils were culled from some news portals, “it tells you how serious these kids are when it comes to learning”. Read Full Story
