Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the GHA, Diana Seade accused CST Limited, the company contracted to apply rockfall nets of dereliction of duty.
The Accra-bound carriageway from the Peduase Lodge to Ayi Mensah on the Accra-Aburi road has been closed to vehicular traffic following another landslide, Sunday.
But, CST Limited has rejected claims it shirked its responsibility, noting that, its contract had been unlawfully terminated and they are in court seeking legal arbitration on the matter.
In reaction, Mr Seade on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem programme, Monday said the contractor had no moral right to accuse the government of abrogating the contract.
She noted that, the contractor’s “non-compliance and incompetence” led to the abrogation of the contract.
The GHA PRO stressed that, they will ensure the contractor faces the necessary sanctions for putting the lives of the public in danger.
As an immediate measure, she said the Ayi Mensah to Aburi-bound double carriageway has been turned into a single carriageway to enable traffic flow to and from Aburi and beyond.
Mr Seade urged motorists to follow directional signs that would be placed along the route to ensure safety, promising further information to the public in due time.
