The facility christene ''Bleoo 74 Legacy Project'' , is expected to generate funds to support the school and also serve as source of drinking water for students.
At the colourful inauguration ceremony at the school yesterday, President of the group, Mr Samuel Victor Quao said it was the of the alumni to always endeavor to support the school in any form to serve as an example to students
He was of the view that complimenting government's efforts in providing a conducive environment for teaching and and learning was very important.
He therefore called on members of the public to inculcate the of giving back to society.
''We are happy about completing this that this water production plant will support the school financially to some extent, makes as more joyous'.
'
This is not the only way we have given back to the Accra Academy as a year group but we can assure that we will continue to offer support in our own way because this school played a significant role in shaping our fundamentals in making us what who we are today'' Mr Quao.
He also made a mention of the O'Grady scholarship and Asiedu,Gyamfi Awards which he has helped a lot students.
Touching on other activities lined up for the 50th anniversary celebration, he indicated there would be the 7th KONUAH, HALM ADDO, AWULETEY,ALEMA Public Lecture on sickle cell disease with the topic : Sickle Cell Disease, Transforming Treatment and Care in Ghana by Bleoobi Prof. Odame, a Paediatric Haemotologist ,Medical Director of Global Sickle Disease Network as well as Director of Haemotology, University of Toronto, Canada on Wednesday, September 25 at the International Conference Center at 4pm and a homecoming and thanksgiving service to climax the program.
The headmaster of the school, Rev. William Foli Garr said the facility would provide the school with great opportunities and potentials for further development.
He said having such an income generating venture would reduce the financial burden on the school,adding that the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) had successfully inspected the facility and given the go ahead to continue production.
The headmaster stated that the well equipped facility had already started production and selling of the sachet water which is being patronized mostly by students and residents around the school.
''We are grateful for the gesture and we promise to take very good care of the facility so the school will enjoy enormous benefits '' he said.
On his part the Mr Wilson Tei , the Board Chairman of the school exhorted all old students to contribute to the school's Endowment Fund to help provide excellent facilities to the school especially housing accommodation for teachers. Read Full Story
