According to reports, the region cannot boast of even three-kilometer good roads, making it a major source of worry for many residents.
The group calling itself Concerned Citizens of Sekondi-Takoradi has slated Friday, November 16, 2018, to hold a peaceful demonstration to express their displeasure to government.
The leader of the group, Nana Kwesi Koomson on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Wednesday, said several deaths have been recorded as a result of the bad roads.
He explained that their peaceful demonstration has been necessitated by government inaction after several complaints by residents yielded no results, except in the case of some occasional filling of potholes with gravels which are eventually washed away by flood waters.
Nana Koomson cited how the bad roads have now become death traps, claiming the lives of motorists and pedestrians in the area.
He said they will match through the various rough and dusty roads and send a petition to the Regional Minister and Municipal Chief Executive for prompt action.
Nana Koomson threatened that if government failed to show signs of commitment to improving the roads in the region, they will advise themselves.
“Enough is enough; we won’t sit and wait for our children to die before we act,” he added. Read Full Story
