Highlife sensation Akwaboah has entered the global football arena with the release of "Same Same," a vibrant anthem ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Launched on March 20, the track has quickly become a rallying cry for fans across the continent, blending traditional Ghanaian rhythms with a message of global solidarity.
The song’s core theme revolves around the idea of human equality and the "universal language" of sport. Through poignant lyrics and infectious melodies, Akwaboah emphasizes that despite cultural or racial differences, the passion for the game remains a shared experience.
The release was further elevated by its official music video, which features a prominent appearances by Black Stars’ Mohammed Kudus, Messi, Mbappe, and Ronaldo.

Coinciding with Akwaboah’s local release, FIFA also initiated the rollout of the tournament's official international soundtrack. The global body debuted "Lighter," a collaboration between Jelly Roll and Carín León, marking a busy day for World Cup-related media.
While the official FIFA album aims for a broad, multi-genre appeal, "Same Same" provides a distinct cultural identity.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to run from June 11 to July 19, 2026, beginning with the opening match at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City and concluding with the final at MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey.
The tournament's group stage will take place from June 11 to June 27, followed by a newly introduced Round of 32 from June 28 to July 3 and the Round of 16 from July 4 to July 7.
The quarter-finals are set for July 9 to July 11, the semi-finals for July 14 to July 15, and the third-place play-off on July 18, just one day before the championship match.
