Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has stressed that they aim to build a strong and formidable team for the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
As part of preparations ahead of the Mundial this summer, Otto Addo has announced a 26-man squad for the friendly games against Austria and Germany this month.
The squad include four debutant players, namely, Derrick Luckassen, Marvin Senaya, Daniel Agyei, and Patrick Pfeiffer.
Explaining the reason behind the inclusion of the new players in the squad, Asante Twum, speaking to Asempa FM, said, "We want to build a strong team. We want to get to a point where we are without our senior players, and we will be able to play comfortably.
"We have spoken to several players, and we are glad to have them, but they will have to compete for a place on the team.
"We want to create a competitive environment, and we want every player to bring competition to the team, and those who are around must also improve themselves, because it will also help to create a competitive side," he added.
The Black Stars will be hosted in Vienna for the game against Austria on March 27, before travelling to play Germany on Monday, March 30, 2026.
