Crystal Palace striker Eddie Nketiah was delighted after scoring in Thursday’s 3-0 Europa Conference League win at Shelbourne, a result that strengthened the Eagles’ position in the group stage.
Palace dominated the match from the start, with first-half goals from Christantus Uche, Nketiah, and Yeremy Pino giving them control.
Uche opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a precise finish following a slick passing move.
Nketiah then doubled the lead with a close-range tap-in after Uche’s shot bounced off the post. Pino completed the scoring in the 37th minute with a fine individual effort.
The English-Ghanaian forward spoke of his gratitude for returning from a minor injury this season.
“It's always nice to get on the scoresheet, and it's always nice to get a win. It was really good from the boys,” Nketiah said.
Despite Palace’s dominance, Shelbourne showed resilience, with Romain Esse hitting both posts on one occasion. The hosts remain on one point from five games and face early elimination from the competition.
The win moves Palace to ninth in the group with one match remaining against Finnish side KuPS. Only the top eight teams advance directly to the last 16, while those ranked ninth to 24th enter a two-legged knockout play-off.
Nketiah emphasized the team’s momentum and ambitions in the tournament.
“We have to keep believing. With God, anything is possible. We want to go all the way in this competition. It's a lovely competition and a great trophy,” he said.
Palace boss Oliver Glasner fielded a strong lineup, including England internationals Marc Guehi and Adam Wharton.
