Kwasi Sibo has asked Real Oviedo to sanction his departure in the next transfer window, with the Ghanaian midfielder increasingly frustrated by his diminished role at the struggling La Liga club.
The 27-year-old has slipped down the pecking order during a difficult season for Oviedo, who sit 19th and remain locked in a relegation battle. His reduced minutes have alerted several clubs, with enquiries already made about his availability.
Sibo’s situation deteriorated after Veljko PaunoviÄ was dismissed following a poor run of results.
New manager Luis Carrión, appointed in October 2025 to steady the team, has rarely relied on the midfielder and appears to have moved on without him.
A regular starter for Ghana’s Black Stars, Sibo has found the contrast with his club role increasingly difficult to accept. The midfielder values consistent involvement and is unwilling to continue as a fringe option.
He has made only seven appearances this season, totalling 323 minutes, a stark drop from his influential role in the previous campaign.
Sibo featured 38 times last season as Oviedo secured promotion to La Liga, but now feels a move is necessary to regain meaningful playing time.
