Major League Soccer side DC United have released Ghanaian duo, Chris-Odoi Atsem and Lloyd Ekow Sam from the 2017 roster because of poor performances.
Odoi-Atsem, who joined the Black-and-Red in 2017 from Maryland Terrapins, failed to break into the team and made just nine appearances before shipped out on loan to National American League side Richmond Kickers in the second half of the league.
One-time Ghana international, Llyod Sam, who joined the side at the start of the 2016 season, was also axed after his underwhelming performances.
Meanwhile, the club did not exercise the option to renew the contract of Patrick Nyarko following the end of his contract.
The decision on the 31-year-old became a conundrum for the directors due to his impressive outings over the course of the campaign, but they were concern about his health after he suffered another severe concussion during the season.
However, DC exercised the option to retain the services of Mampong-born guardsman Kofi Opare after his superlative performance in the just ended season, where he was voted as the club's defender of the season.
