Ghanaian defender Roy Boateng is making waves in the American lower-tier league with outstanding performances week-in-week-out for UC Davis.
After spearheading a defense that kept a pair of North Division foes in check last week, UC Davis junior defender Roy Boateng was named the Big West Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in his career.
Boateng, who earned his first career weekly award last season, has been churning out scintillating performances for the UC Davis in the Big West Conference League.
Anchoring a stingy back line that surrendered a total of 11 shots, just three of those on frame -- for the week, Boateng helped UC Davis post back-to-back shutouts against UC Santa Barbara and Sacramento State, including limiting the Gauchos to just one shot on goal in a 3-0 home victory and just two to the Hornets in a 2-0 win on the road.
Boateng helped Santa Rosa United win a Cal-Cup title and a State Cup in 2013.
