Ghanaian youngster Ransford Gyan has been selected by New York City FC in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft.
The 19-year-old, a number 27 overall pick, joins the Eastern Conference finalist ahead of the 2026 season following his outstanding year with Clemson University.
Gyan caught the attention of several MLS sides with his dazzling performances for Clemson Tigers in 2025.
The midfielder was awarded ACC Freshman of the Year last season after scoring nine goals and delivering five assist at Clemson.
Before moving to Clemson Tigers, Gyan also won the 2024 Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year at MLS NEXT side Cedar Stars Academy.
The petite attacking midfielder will be hoping to make his breakthrough in professional soccer when he begins his career at New York City FC next year.
Also making the draft from Clemson are Ghanaian duo Kwaku Agyabeng and Wahabu Musah.
Agyabeng, a number 4 overall pick has been selected by Sporting Kansas City while Musah joins Colorado Rapids.
