Aduana Stars edged closer to winning their second Ghana Premier League title following their 1-0 home win over WAFA on Wednesday to open a four-point lead at the top.
The match which was billed as the league decider failed to live up to the hype in the first half as both sides did not create any glaring chance.
Aduana Stars showed intent at the blast of referee Cecil Fleischer's whistle in the second stanza but like the first half, WAFA defenders curtailed their incessant attacks.
But their high octane display paid off in the 55th minute when Caleb Amankwaa failed to tightly mark deadly striker Derick Sassraku, whose glancing header beat goalkeeper Richmond Ayi at his near post.
Aduana were never troubled by the Academy Boys at any point in the match as the hosts did a professional job by picking the maximum points.
By virtue of the win, Aduana stretched their lead at the top of the pile to 51 points, four points above WAFA with just three games to end the campaign.
