Confirmed: Augsburg defender Daniel Opare makes Ghana return after three-year absence

Augsburg defender Daniel Opare has been handed a call-up into the Black Stars after a three-year absence, it has been confirmed.

Coach Kwesi Appiah has included the 26-year-old in his squad for the key fixture against the Cranes next month.

The Ghana international has been rewarded for his revived form for the German Bundesliga side.

The former Ghana youth star has not played for West Africans since the country's wrecked 2014 World Cup campaign in Brazil.

The Ghanaian has shown a strong performance in recent games to win his way back into the national team ahead of the crucial qualifier against the Cranes in Kampala next month.

The former Real Madrid youth defender has featured in four out of six matches for the German side where he has impressed heavily.

He is largely regarded as the man to replace ageing US-based Harrison Afful at the right-back position.
