It’s not a pleasant news for Division One League clubs as the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association has declined a request to absorb officiating fees for the 2016/17 GN Bank DOL season.
During the last stakeholders meeting of the DOL Board, the clubs made a request to the leadership of the football federation to take off the officiating fees from their bills as they are already loaded with a lot of expenditure.
But the ExCo of the Ghana FA, after consideration have decided to take only part of the fees off for the clubs to pay the rest.
“After considering your petition requesting that the GFA waives off the outstanding officiating cost per each team which stood at Five Thousand Nine Hundred Ghana Cedis (?5900.00), the Executive Committee of the GFA has decided to ameliorate the hardships of the Division One League clubs by absorbing half of the fees,” a letter sent to the DOL clubs read.
The clubs will therefore be obliged to pay Two Thousand Nine Hundred Cedis (?2900.00) with the FA taking the remaining Three Thousand Cedis (?3000.00).
At the stakeholders meeting in January this year, the clubs were supposed to pay officiating fees of over Eight Thousand Cedis (?8000.00) but sponsorship packages from StarTimes and GN Bank took care of part of the fees.
The remainder which was ?5900.00 was thrown back to the FA again but the federation has declined absorbing all.
Clubs are however obliged to complete payment of their officiating fees before the start of the second round of the season.
