Board Chairman of Great Olympics Amarkai Amarteifio believes Maxwell Konadu deserves to be named as the next Black Stars coach.
The four-time AFCON champions are without a substantive coach after Avram Grant departed the role following the expiration of his contract last month.
A six-member committee has been constituted by nation’s football governing body to head hunt his replacement before the team engage Congo in the 2018 World Cup qualifier in June.
Nevertheless, there has been growing debate from a section of the team’s advocates that a local coach should be handed the job ahead of expatriate coach.
And the Great Olympics chief thinks Maxwell Konadu, who has been appointed as interim trainer for the team deserves to be made substantive due to the experience he garnered under the stewardship of Avram Grant.
“Maxwell Konadu will be the right person to handle the team as substantive coach because he has worked with Avram Grant all these years and knows the team very well,” Amarteifio told Graphic Sports.
“Ibrahim Tanko is another good coach so a combination of he (Tanko) and Maxwell Konadu will yield positive results. As for Akwesi Appiah it is obvious that the players don’t respect him because the lat time he handled the team so many issues cropped up and I am sure that he will kowtow to the pressure again if given the nod. “
“That notwithstanding, if Akwesi Appiah believes that he has groomed himself over the years and can take full control over the team and be seen as boss in camp then he can go for it. “
