Bolgatanga, July 18, GNA - The Upper East Region would be hosting its Regional Town Hall Meeting on Monday, July 22, 2019, in Bolgatanga, the regional capital.
Mr Bennin Issifu, the Regional Director of the Information Services Department (ISD), who made the announcement through the media, said it would take place in the hall of the Ghana National Association Teachers (GNAT) at 0900 hours.
The meeting would afford all the 15 Municipal and District Assemblies (MDAs) the opportunity to make presentations on the status of the implementation of government’s projects and policies, as well as exhibit and showcase to citizens completed projects.
The Regional Director said the presentations of the projects would cover those implemented from 2017 to 2019 and is expected to highlight the implementation of the government’s flagship programmes in the areas of Agriculture, Health, Education, Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP), the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) among others.
The Regional Director said sector Ministers from the aforementioned Ministries would grace the occasion and called on key stakeholders from the region including traditional and religious leaders, civil society organizations, political parties, the media, identifiable groups, and members of the public to attend the programme.
Mr Issifu said the Region is the second in the series of the programme and explained that the rationale behind the town hall meeting is to provide the platform for duty bearers to explain to the citizenry how state resources entrusted to them are utilized.
He said it would also afford the people the opportunity to contribute and make their inputs into national policies and programmes as well as help ensure transparency and accountability.
