Kumbungu (N/R), July 11, GNA - The Centre for Communities Education and Youth Development (CCEYD), a Non Governmental Organisation, has intensified its distribution of “How to Make Good Choices” book to pupils in the Northern Region to help promote a congenial society.
Over 5,000 copies of the book have been distributed to pupils in various basic schools including Kumbungu Sunnia English/Arabic School and Chanzegu Primary School in the Kumbungu District; and Imam Foundation Islamic School in the Tamale Metropolis amongst others.
This brought the number of copies of the book distributed to pupils and some members of parent-teacher associations in the communities in the Assemblies from June to July, this year, to 11,000.
The 50-page book titled: “How to Make Good Choices”, emphasises civic responsibility, moral uprightness, and personal care and development to help transform the lives of its readers especially children to become responsible leaders.
The book is based on “The Way To Happiness” with sponsorship from Global Pioneers, a United States organisation, and it is a handiwork of L. Ron Hubbard, an American philosopher and humanitarian.
Mr Ibrahim Abu, Executive Director of CCEYD, who spoke during the presentation of copies of the book to pupils in various basic schools including Kumbungu Sunnia E/A School at Kumbungu on Wednesday, said the essence of the exercise is to restore sanity and moral values amongst children.
Mr Abu urged pupils to read the book, imbibe its lessons and practice them to lead upright lives to promote national development.
He said CCEYD would now extend the distribution of the book to cover the entire region and subsequently the entire country focusing on both basic and senior high schools.
Mr Yussif Yakubu Tia, Headmaster of Kumbungu Sunnia E/A Junior High School, said teachers have been counselling the pupils to lead responsible lifestyles and expressed delight that the book has come to complement their work.
