Jocobu, June 26, GNA - A gang of armed robbers embarking on an alleged robbery spree, have been intercepted by the Jacobu Police in the Amansie Central District.
The robbers numbering three on board a Daewoo taxi cab with registration number BA 2855-17 were arrested following a tip off between Akyemkrom and Nakawura, of that District.
Detective Corporal Isaac Tuffour, who briefed newsmen on the incident at Jacobu said they were from Obuasi heading towards Kobro, a mining community to rob a mining firm, when the police foiled the operation.
He said the Police received information about the operation of the suspects and dispatched a team of Police officers who intercepted them.
Detective Corporal Tuffour gave the names of the suspects as Emmanuel Menasha, 19, Kwadwo Sarpong, 27, Prince Adjei, 24 and Prince Arhin, 27.
He said a third suspect believed to be the ring leader was picked later at his hideout at Aboagyekrom, also in the district.
He said a foreign pistol, 27 BB live cartridges, a dismantled pump action gun, two sets of military uniform and a machete were retrieved from the suspects.
Detective Tuffuor said the suspects were in police custody assisting the police for further investigations.
