Accra, April 30, GNA - The National Sports Authority (NSA), has condemned the recent acts of violence at some league centres, during the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Normalisation Committee (NC) Special Competition.
The Nana Agyemang Badu I Sports Stadium and the Berekum Golden City Park, have been banned by the GFA for acts of violence in recent times.
A statement signed by Mr. Charles Obeng Amofah, Ag, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the NSA said, it has learnt with shock the attacks and assaults on certain individuals during the match between Berekum Chelsea and Kumasi Asante Kotoko, last Sunday in Berekum.
It said, the NSA condemns the barbaric act which generated gory images of persons assaulted and widely transmitted on some major social media platforms.
It advised the police, to arrest and prosecute culprits of this barbaric acts to serve as a deterrent to others and to bring decency to our sports.
The statement said, “the Authority and relevant stakeholders would ensure that stiffer punishments including banning offenders from all football related activities are enacted to control such abhorrent behaviours”.
It said the Authority would work closely with the FA and the security agencies to safeguard life and property in subsequent matches.
“Our hearts go out to those who were injured as a result of this unfortunate incident and we wish them speedy recovery.
