Accra, March 22, GNA - The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Normalisation Committee (NC), has received a six-month extension of mandate from Federation International of Football Association (FIFA).
Earlier speculations in the local media about the extension, was confirmed at a press briefing on Friday, March 22 at the GFA Headquarters in Accra.
The extension means the initial March 31st deadline, for the NC has now been stretched to September 30.
The NC would now be engaging with a new Task Force set up by FIFA in the next six months of their mandate.
The NC and the Task Force were to work together to ensure Ghana football was brought back to normalcy.
The Joint Task Force is made up of President of the Normalization Committee, Dr. Kofi Amoah, Peter Limacher from FIFA, Jean Samuel Leuba from FIFA, Godfred Dame a representative of the Government of Ghana from the Attorney General's Department and Solomon Mudege also from FIFA.
According to Dr Amoah, the decision to extend their mandate period was taken in Miami on March 15, at a FIFA Executive Council meeting after Gianni Infantino, FIFA President presented the NC's progress report to the Council.
He said the NC had sent monthly reports to FIFA on the progress of work, adding that, FIFA was happy with the progress they had made so far and hence want them to complete their work.
Dr Amoah noted that, their main focus for the next six months would be to finalise the review of the statues of the GFA.
The NC and the Task Force responsibilities as spelt out by FIFA includes; managing the day to day administration of the GFA, making changes to the statutes of the GFA in conformity to FIFA and CAF statues, and to also design the road-map for the next GFA election.
Meanwhile, ex-Ghana international Samuel Osei Kuffuor will substitute Lawyer Dua Adonteng, former Asante Kotoko board member for the second half of the NC's stay.
