Ehoaka (W/R), March 20, GNA - Government attaches much importance to education and will continue to build more infrastructure and renovate existing ones, Mr Ernest Kwofie, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Jomoro has reiterated.
Mr Kwofie gave the reminder during the handing-over ceremony of a refurbished six-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities to the Ehoaka M /A Primary School in the area.
The renovated edifice, which comprised of a store, staff common room, a headmaster's office and a place of convenience, became necessary following the dilapidated nature of the structure, which had then become a dead trap since 2013.
He advised parents to ensure that children of school going age, were enrolled in school and monitored to grow into responsible adulthood and take the mantle of leadership in the near future.
The MCE pleaded with the community to fully embrace the free Senior High School programme to ensure that access to secondary education was not compromised.
Mr Kwofie used the occasion to donate 69 pieces of school uniforms to the Ehoaka Junior High School and pledged to donate street light bulbs to the school to ensure security during evening studies.
He also promised to donate furniture to all schools in the municipality, adding that, for the past 10 years, no school had been given furniture in the area.
Municipal Director of Education, Mr George Effah lauded the MCE admitting that the gesture would provide space for enrolment of more pupils and asked the community to maintain the facility.
He said the facility would go a long way to improve upon quality education in the area and advised parents to invest in the education of their children.
The headmaster of the school, Mr Dominic K.Emu appealed to teachers to imbue children with the requisite knowledge required for the world of work and their personal development, adding that, the facility would inure to academic excellence.
For his part, Secretary to the Old Students Association, Mr Eric Nwiah said quality education was the collective responsibility of both teachers and parents and charged the former to exhibit a high sense of discipline and discharge their mandate prudently.
