Accra, March 19, GNA - The University of Cape Coast (UCC) was declared overall winners of the 2019 maiden African Universities Games in Cairo, Egypt.
The Ghanaian University topped both male and female divisions with 10 gold, seven silver and eight bronze medals, to win the students sports festival.
Astute University of Egypt placed second with three gold medals, as University of Ghana, Legon and University of Development Studies (UDS), Tamale both grabbed two gold medals apiece.
Derek Abrefa, a student of UCC and national tables tennis player, attributed their success to training, as all the sports students were stars in their own rights.
He added that, they also obeyed instructions of their leaders and trainers.
He commended the UCC team and urged them to train harder to make Ghana proud again.
