Accra, Feb. 25, GNA - The Madina Area of The Church of Pentecost has embarked on a five-hour massive clean-up exercise at Madina to complement government’s efforts of making Accra the cleanest city in Africa.
Led by Apostle Anthony Ahalivor, Madina Area Head of the church, the members cleaned
choked gutters and collected rubbish around the market through the Electricity Company of
Ghana Limited to the Post Office area.
Apostle Ahalivor said the church had already started tree-planting in some Districts and
Mission Houses of the church to support the government’s afforestation programme.
He said the church had made it a policy each year to identify an issue of national concern
with the view of playing a role to help achieve social order for sustained national development.
‘This year, our focus has been on Creation Care and it is out of this that we have developed
various strategies to run a campaign on environmental care under the theme; “Environmental Care, My Responsibility’, he added.
Apostle Ahalivor said the campaign was one of the many of the church-state partnership
ventures captured in the church’s vision for the next five years dubbed: “Vision 2023” with an overarching theme: “Possessing the nations-equipping the church to transform every sphere of society with values and principles of the Kingdom.”
‘This approach seeks to instil in members the discipline to be physically responsible and
involve in the care and cleaning of the environment’, Apostle Ahalivor added.
He appealed to Ghanaians to take environmental care very seriously and contribute
effectively since the government alone cannot shoulder the responsibility.
