Tema, Feb. 17, GNA - The Guild of the Good Shepherd, Tema Archdeaconry of the Anglican Church, has installed Reverend Father Robert Nii Darku Attopee as its new chaplain.
As part of his role, Rev’d Fr. Attopee, is expected to deepen the faith of members through prayer, worship and provision of spiritual and pastoral care.
He is also enjoined to embrace the concerns of members and ensure that their spiritual needs, fashioned around biblical and Anglican teachings, were appropriately met.
The induction service, which begun with an Evensong, at the St. Stephen Anglican Church in Tema, witnessed members of the guild, drawn from all parishes in the Archdeaconry, clad in white apparels with patches of blue, singing songs of praise to welcome their new chaplain.
Addressing members of the guild after the induction and robbing of the chaplain, Venerable Major Ebenezer Nii Addy Laryea (Rtd), Archdeacon of Tema, called on the new Chaplain and members to coordinate effectively to achieve set goals in order to make the guild more attractive and formidable.
He said as part of the strategic pillars that underpinned the diocesan vision for growth, guilds were required to deepen the spirituality of members and ensure growth based on integrity and discipline at all levels.
“Discipline is the blueprint for success and it is necessary in every walk of life and will guarantee the growth of the guild,” he said, and further called on the Master Shepherds and members to ensure that their undertakings were tailored to the specifications of the diocese's vision.
The Archdeacon, who is a long-standing member of the Guild of the Good Shepherd, called on the guild's leadership to renew their commitment and synergize efforts to produce desired results.
According to him, the guild was a unique entity which called for a shared responsibility among members to build it on its founding tenets and principles saying that
“others have laboured and toiled in diverse ways, and it behooves on us to do more exploits and add to their gains whiles we share their glory”.
Venerable Laryea admonished the newly inducted chaplain to prioritize the inauguration of more guilds in the Archdeaconry to ensure its vibrancy.
“No matter the discouragement, don’t give up, stand firm for God is with you in all your endeavours,” he said.
Rev’d Fr. Attopee, newly inducted Chaplain, pledged his commitment as a church agent to deepen the spirituality of guild members.
Present at the service were the Diocesan Master Shepherd, Emelia Maame Afua Arhin, Elizabeth Atunu, Archdeaconry Master Shepherd and all Parish Master Shepherds and executives.
