Enyan Abaasa (C/R), Sept. 23, GNA - Mr Kwamena Duncan Central Regional Minister, has appealed to chiefs in the region to emulate the leadership example of Osagyefo Kwame Akonu X Omanhen of Enyan Abaasa Traditional Area.
He said this would help curb chieftaincy litigations for sanity to prevail in their respective traditional areas.
The Minister made the appeal when he joined the chiefs and people of Abaasa Traditional Area at a forum to commemorate the silver Jubilee of Osagyefo Akonu X, the paramount chief of the area and the climax of their 2018 Akwambo Festival.
The celebration, held under the theme: “the role of a leader in development”, was to solicit for funds to complete the traditional meeting hall and other project such as connecting potable water to communities, expansion of the infrastructure at the technical institute.
Mr Duncan said information available to him indicates that the Abaasa Traditional Area is the only traditional area in the region which has no chieftaincy case pending before the Central or the National House of Chiefs.
I have had a number of interactions with his Royal Majesty since my assumption of office as Regional Minister and in all these interactions, Osagyifo Akonu X has stood out with an enviable unmatched quest for human, material and physical development for his traditional area, the Central Region and Ghana as a whole, he said.
Mr Duncan said qualities of the chief has led to the establishment of the Oman Nsawa Development Fund and the establishment of a 35 acre coconut plantation site plan at Eduakrom.
He said his office has put the necessary plans and measures to support them address challenges and concerns the traditional council has raised.
Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, Omanhen of Abeadz Traditional Area, and also the Vice President of the National House of Chiefs, said ”I have keenly observed with considerable satisfaction the quality of leadership which you have brought to the chieftaincy institution. Your energy and enterprise has not only impacted upon the lives of only your people but has deepened the chieftaincy institution.
“You deep insight into the strength and capabilities of our traditions and culture in addressing social issues relating to modern governance system have earned you, the admiration and the confidence of your peers”, he said.
