Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Aug. 29, GNA - Mr. Isaac Kwadjo Buabeng, the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) has said that Education was key to the development of every nation and as such government would ensure educational facilities are provided for the citizenry.
He said since education was his prime objective efforts would be made ensure that such facilities are made available to the people of the Municipality so that every child of school going age attends school.
Mr. Kwadjo Buabeng made the observation during the first Town Hall Meeting of the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipality, organised by the Information Services Department at Nsawam.
The MCE told the Ghana News Agency in an interview after the Town Hall meeting that he had donated 610 bags of cement bags to some deprived schools, churches and Zongo mosques and some communities for the construction of schools and durbar grounds.
He told the meeting, attended by the Traditional rulers, Information officers, Heads of Departments and Assembly members the Municipality was undertaking some developmental projects in the municipality to raise the standard of living of the people.
He mentioned the construction of 83 biogas places of convenience, extension of electricity to remote areas and the construction of eight (8) CHIP Compounds, adding that, over 1,000 houses are currently enjoying pipe borne water.
Mr Buabeng said some factories in the municipality, such as Astek and the Tractor Assembly plant and others would be rehabilitated by the assembly to offer employment for the youth.
He the Municipality had also ventured into maize, vegetables and a pawpaw farm at Okobeyeyie, as part of the Planting for Food and Jobs initiative, with a workforce of over 163 people.
Awo Yaa Amankwaah, queen mother of Nsawam, who chaired the function, commended the Ministry of Information and the Assembly for the meeting and the developmental projects initiated within the Municipality.
She appealed to the Minister of Information to continue with the Town Hall meeting throughout the country so that the people would know the developmental projects being undertaken by the government.
Nana Appiah Kubi, the Municipal Information Officer, said government had expanded the School Feeding Programme and was also assisting farmers with inputs like fertilizers.
