Tamale, Aug. 13, GNA - Kandahar Boys, a youth group linked to the ruling New Patriotic Party, on Monday morning locked up the offices of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) and guided him out of the Hospital’s premises.
The youth group took away the keys to the office.
The incident temporarily disrupted administrative work at the Hospital as members of staff were seen in small groups outside their offices discussing the issue.
A team of police personnel later arrived at the scene and cordoned off the administration block in an attempt to secure the place.
It is not clear why the youth group undertook the action, but eyewitnesses said the Kandahar Boys alleged that Dr David Kolbila, the CEO had established several companies that hijacked contracts to supply consumables to the TTH.
This was not the first time this youth group had engaged in such an act.
In February, last year, the Kandahar Boys went to the TTH, entered the administration block, asked the secretary to the CEO to park out of the office.
They seized the keys to the main door of the CEO and Director of Administration’s offices, locked up the door, and wrote on it (door) “do not enter until further notice” and left with the keys.
The youth group, at the time, alleged mismanagement at the TTH and called for the removal of its CEO amongst other directors.
