Makessim (C/R), April 5, GNA - The Mankessim Traditional Council in the Central Region has organised a colourful ceremony to welcome Dr Nosratollah Maleki, the Ambassador of the people's Republic of Iran in Ghana to the community.
The Ambassador was at the community to solidify and renew cultural, socio-economic, educational and trade relations between the two for mutual benefits.
Accompanied by Madam Fatemeh Maleki, his Wife and a team of cultural enthusiasts and other experts, the maiden visit of the Ambassador, took him to several educational institutions, cultural and historical sites and the Catholic fistula Centre within the Mfantseman Municipality.
The Iranian Ambassador recounted his government's considerable diverse contributions to the development of Ghana in agriculture, health and education and expressed the hope that the Iranian business community would take full advantage of the prevailing congenial investment and political climate in Ghana to invest in government's priority policies in trade, investments and tourism.
The Ambassador expressed his utmost gratitude to the Paramount Queenmother of Mankessim, Nana (Dr) Ama Amissah III who facilitated the visit and the Government for their willingness to collaborate with Iran to build a cultural bridge that will stimulate growth in their respective countries.
He said Ghana and Iran had unique cultural diversity and richness in resources that both countries could intensively promote to sustain and enhance their beautiful cultural heritage to attract more tourists from across the world.
"The visit will enhance greater opportunities for investments and the development of cultural products" adding that although both countries had a long-standing relationship, they could do more to forge stronger ties in the promotion of each country’s cultural domain for the benefit of their people.
For her part, the Queenmother reiterated the area's readiness and willingness to collaborate with Iran to further deepen the cultural relations between the two countries.
She expressed optimism that the new partnership would be of mutual benefit in the exchange of ideas and practices, and cultural re-engineering for socio-economic development and help solidify the already good relationship between the two countries.
Earlier, the Ambassador and his team were met on arrival by Dr Nana Ama Amissah amidst drumming, dancing to beautiful renditions of various traditional and cultural songs.
